The Hunts Post asked its readers where in Huntingdonshire they believed serves the best afternoon tea, and Nuts Bistro in St Ives has triumphed as the runners-up.

Co-owners, father and daughter duo Keith Taylor and Sarah Walters, were "so chuffed" to have been announced as runners-up and stressed that they wouldn't be where they are today without their "amazing" customers.

"It's just so nice for us all, every one of the staff just feels so happy to be appreciated and that people have acknowledged us," said Sarah, who runs the front of house.

Keith, the head chef, added: "On my side, knowing that people appreciate home-cooked food; it makes you feel good for the rest of the day."

The delightful family-run business serves a traditional afternoon cream tea featuring classic scones, jam, clotted cream, homemade mouth-watering cakes, sandwiches and more on the corner of Station Road.

When the opportunity arose 18 months ago to take over Nuts Bistro, Sarah and Kieth jumped at the chance and haven't looked back.

Along with their staff, they serve the people of St Ives with a smile in a welcoming environment where all can feel at home.

No cream tea at the bistro is ever the same, with an ever-changing specials board and freshly made delights, there is always something new on offer to keep the town coming back for more.

"It's nice that people can come, sit and have whatever they like, and we pride ourselves on that.

"When customers walk through the door, we're all smiling and happy to be here. We always put a smile on."

Keith said: "' I'd rather make 50p and for you to come back with your friends and relatives rather than sting you for a large amount for you not to return."
