The future is certainly bright for Huntingdonshire gymnast Sol Scott following his gold and bronze medal success representing Team GB at the European Youth Olympics.

The 16-year-old star from Godmanchester is part of Huntingdon Gymnastics Club, and he performed "fantastically" well to win his medals at the competition in Maribor, Slovenia.

Following the completion of the Youth Olympics in July, Sol said on Facebook: "What an amazing experience to compete at the European Youth Olympic Festival."

"I had a wicked time competing alongside Alex Niscoveanu and Jonas Rushworth to bag a team gold medal and a personal best all-around score of 76.85 with a big fall on the floor."

Sol secured his gold medal as part of the Great Britain, boy's artistic gymnastics team alongside his teammates Jonas and Alex.

Sol and his teammates finished nearly 1.00 mark clear of Italy in second place, blitzing the competition.

The team competition was also used as a qualifier for the Apparatus finals, with Sol qualifying for Vault and Parallel Bars final.

In the final, Sol performed superbly and took the individual Bronze in the Vault final.
