A Sawtry site manager and his team are celebrating after winning an industry award.

Stuart Morley has been in charge at Judith Gardens, a development of 295 Bovis Homes being delivered on land off Gidding Road in the village, since 2020.

Stuart became one of just 444 site managers from a field of 8,000 candidates across the country to be awarded the coveted prize in 2023.

Stuart, 51, who has won the 'quality award' twice before in his career, said: “It really means a lot to me and everyone else at the development.

“Since being the site manager at Judith Gardens for the past three years, we have worked really hard to achieve this award.

“I stick by the motto that ‘if at first you don’t succeed, try again.’ Everything comes into place eventually and it is important for us to keep the team motivated.

“Winning this year means a lot as it shows that our hard work has finally paid off.”

Stuart, from Peterborough, entered the construction industry in 2007, starting out as an operative before working his way through the ranks to become a site manager in 2016.

He has been with Vistry Group, which builds under the Bovis Homes and Linden Homes brands, since 2020.

The Pride in the Job Awards were first launched more than 40 years ago and are regarded among the most prestigious acolades in the construction industry.

Judging for this year’s awards began in July 2022, with site managers being assessed in six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety.

Along with the other winners of the 'quality award', Stuart will now go forward to be considered for the 'seal of excellence'.
