Bill Hensley, from Huntingdon Community Radio, talks about this year's Huntingdon carnival.

One of the station's big events of the year is always the Huntingdon Carnival and Live in The Park.

This is a free, community weekend event with lots of family fun, stalls, a funfair, music and dance and food and drink

This year, the big weekend is August 12/13 and we will be broadcasting live from the Riverside Park, in Huntingdon.

On the Sunday, there are no less than seven bands performing, and fingers crossed for clear skies, for the Spitfire flypast.

Please put the date in your diaries now because we would love to see you there.

Our Charity of The Month for July is Huntingdon Youth Theatre. The charity exists to provide young people with the opportunity to perform on stage, gaining stagecraft knowledge and self-confidence.

More than 200 young people have been part of HYT over the years and some have progressed to professional acting. We support the work of this great charity and we hope you will too.

Their website is: http://huntingdonyouththeatre.co.uk/ and you can also find out more on at: www.hcrfm.co.uk.

We are always on the lookout for volunteers, to do research, produce and present programmes. If you want to learn more about radio and become involved, please contact me on: 07767 823424 or email: bill.hensley@hcrfm.co.uk for a chat. The only qualification is that you must be over 18 years of age.

There are so many ways you can listen to HCR104fm and although things have moved on since the “medium wave” days of radio, you will still find us if you live in Huntingdonshire and the surrounding villages on your good old fashioned FM radio - at 104 MHz of course.

Your smart speaker will find us if you ask it to “play Huntingdon Community Radio”.
