The owner of a Turkish restaurant in St Ives will take the helm of a tea room in Somersham next week after the current tenants work their final day there this weekend.

Alex Sarilmaz, owner of Vadi Kitchen, is to lead Hollies Tea Room from Monday, after current tenants Holly and Kelvin Toulson's last day of trading on Sunday.

John Rigby, owner of Parkhall Garden Centre, said: "Holly has done an amazing job running the tea room, totally from scratch, at the onset of the first lockdown.

"Unfortunately, after almost three years, she has decided to step down, mainly due to family commitments.

"She and her family should feel very proud of all their achievements.

"It could be a very busy weekend in the tea room with so many regular customers saying a fond farewell." 

Mr Sarilmaz, his manager Ali, and most of the existing staff, will take over the tea room from Monday morning and gradually introduce their own fresh ideas.

"We wish Alex and his team every success with their latest venture," Mr Rigby added.
