Visitors enjoyed an afternoon of glorious sunshine while spending time in the peaceful grounds of a leading children’s hospice.

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) hosted its summer open gardens day at Milton on Sunday, June 4.

A steady flow of visitors enjoyed refreshments, stalls and fun for all the family, including a tombola, raffle and quiz.

“It was a great opportunity to raise awareness and give people an insight into life at Milton,” said EACH community fundraiser Helena Davis.

“In addition to members of the public, families who were at the hospice came outside to join in the fun.

“People seemed to enjoy the opportunity to wander around and see our beautiful, tranquil gardens.

“They were also able to meet staff, who were on hand to answer questions and provide information on the work we do.”

Also on hand to help with the smooth running of the day were a group of volunteers called ‘The Diamonds’, from Saffron Walden.

Meanwhile, EACH is on the lookout for extra volunteers, including people to help its Facilities team at Milton.

Extra pairs of hands are needed to help with maintenance, including portable appliance testing and looking after pool vehicles.

Additional help is also needed for EACH’s Help at Home service.

This entails going into a family’s home and providing vital practical support with things like gardening, decorating or any other tasks that need doing.

The team are always keen to hear from more interested volunteers.
