A pair of volunteers from Huntingdon who dedicate their time to helping others and organising fundraisers have donated all of their cafe's profits to support a therapy centre.

Husband and wife George and Anna Dutton have been volunteering for the Huntingdon Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Therapy Centre in Bradbury House and running the cafe since June 2022.

Combining their first names to create 'GeAnnas' cafe, more than £3,500 has been raised from the till, which has all gone into "little projects" to help the centre.

The therapy centre is trying to raise money for a new boiler, so Anna and George have taken it upon themselves to redecorate and refurbish parts of the centre to keep it functioning so a new boiler can be attained.

Anna said: "What drives me is I'm very community-based. I'm very community-orientated; I always want to help.

"None of us in the family have needed the therapy centre because neither of us has MS, but it's just knowing what MS is, the fact it's your immune system that is attacking your body that it just shocks us.

"So it is just something we can do to give back."

On top of running GeAnnas, Anna also volunteers for Magpas Air Ambulance and organises an annual event for them, plus organising several fundraising activities for the therapy centre, such as a recent Easter raffle which went "amazingly well".

Anna sourced around 45 prizes from local businesses and was "overwhelmed" by the support, raising just under £350 from £1 ticket sales.

Anna added: "Without the help and support of local businesses, small charities like Huntingdon MS Therapy Centre would not be able to survive."

The next fundraising endeavour planned by Anna and George is a car boot sale to take place in the centre's car park on the last Sunday of every month, and bingo on the last Friday of every month.

"It's trying to get people to use the centre because it's amazing how many people don't know it is there," said Anna.
