When Julie Tebb lines up on the starting line of this year's London Marathon she hopes to turn miles into money for a hospital garden revamp.

Julie, a business support co-ordinator who works for the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, will be taking part in her fifth London Marathon in April, in memory of her late father Alan Hounsham.

And as well as running in his memory, Peterborough-based Julie will be raising funds for the North West Anglia Hospitals’ Charity for a cause close to Alan’s heart.

Supporters can sponsor and donations raised will help with garden projects at Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon, where keen gardener Alan was a patient.

Julie said: “My dad passed away last year and was very well cared for at Hinchingbrooke. He loved his garden, and he liked seeing the medals I had won at various running events, so this seemed like a fitting tribute.”

This will be Julie’s fifth London Marathon, and the first for four years. She can often be seen pounding the streets around Peterborough as part of her training, as well as taking part in a series of half marathons around the country.

Anyone wishing to support Julie’s marathon efforts can do so here.

Philip Fearn, charitable projects manager for the North West Anglia Hospitals’ Charity, said: “We are very grateful to Julie for generously choosing us as her good cause to raise funds for.

“We know that Hinchingbrooke Hospital and gardening both meant a great deal to her and her father, and what a wonderful way to honour his memory.”

He added: “As Julie has shown, supporting the hospitals’ charity is easy – our aim is to provide an extension of the care and patient experience to everyone who uses our hospitals – going over and above for our patients and staff.”
