A Friday Night Dance Ability club held at the Montagu Club in Huntingdon is helping to empower adults and children from the disabled community.

Rob Bradshaw and the Montagu Club organised a free-of-charge Santa party for more than 100 people on December 9, with a special visit from Santa and Mrs Claus and Cllr David Landon Cole, Mayor of Huntingdon.

Mr Bradshaw, who acted as the DJ, said the disco aims to help the disabled community to feel part of the wider community and experience the same opportunities for a social life.

Mr Bradshaw said: “It was just a sight to see people happy, and that’s what it’s all about, making people smile.

"This is one big team effort, and we strive to make people happy whatever the ability; we want to give something back to the community and events like this make us proud."

Members of the Montagu club have put their own money into the initiative to allow the parties to happen following the success of the first disco in October.

Mr Bradshaw hopes to hold many more themed events, starting with a Valentines party on February 17.
