With Christmas drawing ever closer, several towns in Huntingdonshire are preparing to mark this year's festivities with their 2022 Christmas lights switch-on events.

Following the success of St Ives Big Christmas Lights Switch-on, be sure not to miss the many other lights being switched on across the district and find out all the details.

Huntingdon

In Huntingdon, Team GB and gold medal-winning gymnast Jake Jarman will be switching-on the town's Christmas lights at 6.30pm on Friday, November 25, in the Market Square.

The Huntingdon Christmas Market will officially open at 12pm before the lights switch on, allowing people to enjoy live music, children's entertainment, festive food and drinks, and even meet Father Christmas.

The Christmas Market will also be open on November 26 from 10am-5.30pm and November 27 from 10am-5.30pm.

Ramsey

The Christmas Lights Switch-on on Ramsey is happening just before 6pm on November 26 in Great Whyte.

To start the event, there will be a Christmas Market with a range of stalls from 10am-4pm accompanied by great music and a fairground.

Local businesses have also been encouraged to decorate their shop windows with Christmas decorations for the Best Dressed Window Competition. 

Following the lights switch-on, the ABBA tribute band, Abbalarf, will perform live music for all to enjoy.

St Neots

St Neots Christmas Lights Switch-on is taking place on Sunday, November 27, on the Market Square from 12pm to 6pm.

Serious about St Neots are supporting the council this year with entertainment and sponsorship for the big event hosted by Mark and Gary in their tenth year.

The fun starts with a fun fair on the high street till 8pm, live stage entertainment, a Christmas market, stilt walkers, Santa's Grotto and more through to 5.30pm.

The lights will be officially turned on at 5pm, followed by a fireworks display.

Mayor of St Neots, Cllr Ben Pitt, said: "The Christmas Lights Switch-on is the biggest event in the St Neots calendar and I can't wait to see the people of St Neots out in force to have some fun and get in the mood for Christmas."

Godmanchester

In Godmanchester, the Christmas Market and Christmas Lights Switch-on will be returning on Friday, December 2, from 5pm-8pm.

The market will be on the Town Hall car park with lots of indoor and outdoor stalls.

The town mayor will switch on the lights, and Father Christmas will, of course, be there in his grotto.
