A freight train has struck a platform at Huntingdon railway station, causing "major disruption" to rail services.
Reports indicated that the freight train collided with platform two earlier today (November 11), forcing lines at the station to close for safety reasons.
Lines have now reopened at the station, but as the service recovers, trains may still be cancelled, delayed or run non-stop, with disruptions expected until 5pm.
Operations Director for Network Rail’s East Coast route, Sam MacDougall, said: “Shortly after 11:30, we received reports that a freight train had struck platform two at Huntingdon railway station.
"Network Rail teams are on site, alongside colleagues from GB Railfreight, and are working to inspect the damage and carry out repairs.

🕔Major disruption is expected until 17:00.
“This incident is having an impact on services, and we are sorry for that.
"Passengers are urged to plan ahead and check before travelling via National Rail Enquiries or with their train operator.
"We’d like to thank passengers for their patience during this time.”
No one was hurt in the incident, and trains can now use the platform again.
Residual disruption is expected, and passengers are advised to check updates and timetables before they travel.
