Huntingdonshire will fall silent on Remembrance Sunday (November 13) in honour of the fallen.

As well as the annual remembrance events, this year also marks the 40th anniversary of the Falklands Conflict.

Lasting 74 days, the Falklands War was the first military action since the Second World War that utilised all elements of the Armed Forces, with 255 British personnel losing their lives.

On June 14, veterans of the campaign and their families, bereaved family members, and civilians who supported the Armed Forced came together for a commemorative event at the National Memorial Arboretum.

On the year of the 40th anniversary, we will be remembering all those impacted by the conflict on Remembrance Sunday too.

Here is our guide to some of the services in the region leading up to and on the day of remembrance.

Huntingdon:

A short service and two-minute silence will be held on the Market Square on Friday November 11 to mark Armistice Day. The service will start shortly before 11am and all are welcome to observe.

On November 13, Huntingdon Town Council and RAF Wyton will join together with local residents to honour the memory and sacrifice of the Armed Forces and their families from Britain and the Commonwealth.

Should you wish to attend Huntingdon’s Remembrance Sunday service, please assemble on the Market Square no later than 10:40am when the parade will march into position.

Anyone who wishes to lay a wreath will be invited to do so at the appropriate time during the service.
