Events offering advice on how to manage the rising cost of living are being held across the Fens.

The sessions are being organised by Fenland District Council, and the next one will be in Wisbech tomorrow (November 4).

It will take place at the Queen Mary Centre, in Queens Road, between 10am and 12noon.

The advice available will range from information on financial support to help with energy bills and food costs.

There will also be tips on managing budgets and details on what residents can do if their problems become overwhelming.

Future sessions will be held at the following locations.

  • Monday, November 28. Oasis Centre, St Michael's Avenue, Wisbech. 10am-12 noon.
  • Tuesday, December 6. Whittlesey Library, Market Street, Whittlesey. 10:30am-12:30pm.
  • Friday, December 16. Chatteris Library, Furrowfields Road, Chatteris. 10:30am-12:30pm.

A previous One Community event was held at Neale Wade Academy, in March, on October 27.

Cllr Chris Boden, Leader of Fenland District Council, said: “We are working extremely hard as a council, together with our partners, to ensure that residents can access the vital help available.

“These events are a great way to help us do that as residents can go to one place to get advice, ask questions, share concerns, and find out about support they may not even be aware of.”

As well as information from Fenland District Council, other partners and local organisations will be on hand too.

These include Rural Cambs Citizens Advice Bureau, Healthy You, Cambridgeshire County Council’s Think Communities Team, Anglian Water, Clarion Housing and Healthwatch.

The events are free to attend. No booking is required and residents can drop in at any time during the session.

Information is also available on the council’s cost of living web page and residents can call the customer helpline on 01354 654321.

Leaflets with cost of living advice are being stocked at the council’s Customer Service Centres at Fenland Hall, in March, and The Boathouse Business Centre, in Wisbech, and at Fenland libraries.
