The A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet improvement team is hosting public information events ahead of construction, which will improve access to St Neots.

National Highways is encouraging the public to drop into one of the upcoming events, including one in St Neots, to find out more about the project.

The vital upgrade will improve journeys between Milton Keynes, Bedford and Cambridge and work is to begin on the scheme before the end of the year after the Secretary of State for Transport granted formal planning permission.

National Highways plans will create a new 10-mile dual carriageway linking the A1 Black Cat roundabout in Bedfordshire to the A428 Caxton Gibbet roundabout on the A428 in Cambridgeshire.

Both existing roundabouts will be upgraded into modern, free-flowing junctions, with a new junction added at Cambridge Road, improving access to St Neots and its train station.

The project will fill in the missing link of a dual carriageway on the strategic road network between Milton Keynes and Cambridge, helping drivers save up to an hour and a half on their journeys every week.

The face-to-face public events will take place at:

Lee Galloway, National Highways Project Director, said: “Ahead of construction starting later this year, we’d love to meet as many people from the local community as possible so they can hear about our construction plans and have the opportunity to ask questions.

“This scheme is going to transform journeys between Milton Keynes, Bedford and Cambridge, and we want to put local communities at the heart of the project as we move through our construction journey.”
