Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) has raised the Royal British Legion (RBL) flag in support of its 2022 Poppy Appeal.
Chair of the District Council, Cllr Michael Burke, raised the flag in front of the council’s Pathfinder House offices on October 27.
RBL Huntingdon and District Branch standard bearer, Nick Lynskey, was also in attendance for the flag raising ceremony and was assisted by branch secretary, Judith Armstrong.
Cllr Burke said: “At this time of year, every year, we remember those who have served and continue to serve to defend our freedoms and way of life, bringing together our wider communities to remember and honour the service and sacrifice of the armed forces community from Britain and the commonwealth.
“It is with immense gratitude and pride as chair of the District Council to give thanks and to formally pledge the council’s support to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal 2022.”
HDC will have poppies and collection tins placed in reception areas across the council, at its Pathfinder House and Eastfield House offices, and at its One Leisure Centres in Huntingdon, Ramsey, St Ives and St Neots.
