ST NEOTS Chamber of Commerce has fallen victim to the welter of business networking clubs that has sprung up in the town.
The chamber closed at the end of 2009 'for lack of interest' after at least 20 years, said a disappointed acting chairman, Nigel Brittain of Brittains Furnishers.
Similar services were offered by the better-organised Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce and by the town centre initiative, which includes a manufacturing group and a retail club, he added.
Several new networking groups - including one recently established by the Cambridgeshire Chamber - have started up in the St Neots area over the past year.
