Huntingdon couple being driven from their home by anti social youths

A HUNTINGDON couple are considering selling their house to get away from anti social youths who they say are making their lives hell.

Dawn and Kevin Gould are fed up with groups of children kicking footballs against the garage walls outside their home and throwing bricks into their back garden.

The grandparents have lived in The Whaddons for 17 years and are now thinking of moving away because of the anti social behaviour.

Mrs Gould said groups of up to 25 children aged from 11 upwards cause a nuisance on an almost daily basis outside the couple’s home.

Police have been called on numerous occasions to move the gang on but they return the next day.

Mrs Gould, 69, said the youngsters often climb onto the roof of the garages at the back of her home and throw bricks at each other and into gardens.

On other occasions tyres have been slashed and attempts made to break into the garages. The force of the ball is also causing part of the garage walls to crumble.

“They’re making our life hell,” said Mrs Gould who is a retired traffic warden. “We have to keep our doors and windows shut, even in this heat, because the noise of the ball hitting the garage wall thunders through the house. It’s very frustrating.”

When confronted by Mrs Gould and other aggrieved neighbours, the youths swear, shout and laugh at them. Their behaviour is also said to be intimidating families who use a nearby children’s play area.

Mrs Gould said: “I know kids have to play but there is a perfectly good field they could use at Coneygear Park. I think it’s reasonable to ask them not to kick the ball against the wall. My grandchildren would never dream of doing such a thing.”

She added: “I love living here but I do not see what we can do to get some peace. I don’t want to be driven from my home but I don’t see any other option.”
