TV property pair’s visit to Somersham

THE latest episode of hit Channel 4 show Location, Location, Location features Somersham.

In the show, property gurus Phil Spencer and Kirstie Allsopp aim to find buyers their dream home, despite often being presented with a demanding wishlist of features the new place should have.

In the show to be screened this evening (Thursday, July 1) at 8pm, the pair face a tough challenge: looking for a home for three generations of the same family.

Mary and David, along with Mary’s parents Edna and George, have all moved to Cambridgeshire to be closer to the rest of the family and to find their own ideal homes.

But so far, they’re all stuck in one rented house – and with the arrival of Mary and David’s first child, Martha, it is getting crowded.

Presenters Phil and Kirstie visited Somersham back in March, filming on two days.

The home viewed by the prospective house buyers was a detached, four-bedroom property in Station Approach.

As well as recording at the Victorian residence, the presenters, crew and buyers had lunch at The Windmill pub, on the outskirts of Somersham.

Pub owner Justine Mackenzie said: “I was in New Zealand when they filmed here and was absolutely gutted to miss them!

“But, from talking to the staff, Phil and Kirstie were both very, very nice people, really approachable and easy to talk to.

“It’s great that they chose Somersham and The Windmill to film in – it’s going to put us on the map.”

The property featured in the show, the last of the series, was marketed by St Ives-based estate agent Ellis Winters and has since been sold, subject to contract.

Ian Winters, of Ellis Winters, said: “It was great fun working with Phil and Kirstie who, regardless of their celebrity status, do understand the housing market and carry out research on the areas they visit.

“Despite the cameras, our aim remained the same: to promote St Ives and its surrounding villages and our clients’ homes to their fullest potential.”
