A NEW iPhone application will make it even easier for Huntingdonshire diners to find out how clean a restaurant or takeaway is.
A NEW iPhone application will make it even easier for Huntingdonshire diners to find out how clean a restaurant or takeaway is.
The Huntingdonshire District Council Food Hygiene Rating Scheme, Scores on the Doors, lists all restaurants and takeaways that are inspected by the council’s environmental health team. It also includes schools which cook food on site or premises that sell ready-to-eat food. Food premises are scored from one to five stars, with five being the top award.
The scores are available to view by visiting www.scoresonthedoors.org.uk or using a wap or text service on mobile phones. Owners of iPhones can now point their phone at a food business and receive information on its star rating.
Councillor Andrew Hansard, executive councillor for housing and public health, said: “This is a great new way for people to find out how their favourite restaurant has scored. More and more food premises within Huntingdonshire are reaching five stars, which means standards of hygiene and maintenance are improving all the time.”
