AN expanding Sawtry galvanising company has made a key addition to its engineering team to help manage a huge increase in capacity.
East Anglian Galvanizing, part of Wedge Group Galvanizing, moved to the village just over a year ago to a new state-of-the-art plant.
It has now appointed maintenance engineer Richard Baines, whose background is in electrical engineering, to maintain all machinery and equipment within the plant, including a sophisticated furnace and overhead cranes, ensuring that every part of the process is kept to the highest of standards.
General manager Paul Bayford said: “Following significant investment in our brand-new plant here at Sawtry 12 months ago, and the installation of high-tech and specialist equipment, it was vital that we increased the size of our maintenance team to ensure optimum efficiency.
“Our move has facilitated a huge increase in capacity, and due to the plant now being able to operate 24-hours a day, Richard’s new role has become increasingly important.”
The firm expects to need to continue to recruit.
INFORMATION: Wedge Group Galvanizing is one of the largest hot-dip galvanizing organisations in the UK with a history dating back over 150 years. It has 14 plants across the country.
