BARCLAYS has also appointed David Ryding as area business director for Barclays Business, Eastern Region – the new team developed to support the SME market.

The creation of Barclays Business brings together the company’s small business customers (under 1million turnover) with medium business customers (1-5million turnover) under one area, a spokesman said.

“David Ryding, who was earlier in his career an area manager with Barclays Local Business, is familiar with the challenges the small and medium business market face and brings a wealth of experience to the role,” she added.

“His new team of 12 relationship directors and 14 relationship support managers has been drawn from across the Barclays network for their knowledge of helping and supporting medium-sized business.”

The newly-created team, which will operate throughout Eastern region, will increase the focus on the SME market, enhancing the products available for medium-sized businesses and support Barclays’ aim to become the best business bank in the UK.

David said: “Medium-sized businesses will now benefit from having access to locally-based business managers with key relationships in their local communities. As well as face-to-face meetings, customers will have enhanced internet access and 24-hour banking, providing a multi-channel service with innovative products.”

David, who lives in Suffolk, joined Barclays in 1977 and spent the last eight years working in Barclays Commercial Bank in Cambridge and then Essex, before taking up his current role.
