A MAN has appeared in court charged with attempted murder and attempted rape after police were called out to an incident in Somersham.
Shi Fu Ni, 22, was at Cambridge Crown Court yesterday for a preliminary hearing into the case which has sent shock-waves through the community.
He entered no plea and has been remanded in custody until a plea and case management hearing on January 17. Court officials say he is likely to stand trial on February 7.
Police were called to the China Garden in the High Street on Tuesday, November 9 at 5.20am.
A spokesman said a second man was taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon and a woman was treated at the scene for her injuries.
