THREE men have been convicted of playing a part in a doorstep shooting and attempted burglary in Godmanchester last year.
The case concluded today (Monday) following a five-day trial at Peterborough Crown Court.
Travis Pratt, 29, of Earls Barton, Northamptonshire, pleaded guilty last Monday (March 14) to possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, aggravated burglary and unlawful wounding.
Today, Harry Beddoes, 24, from Wellingborough, and Martin Hunt, 57, of Earls Barton, were found guilty of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
The incident happened at an address in Anderson Crescent, Godmanchester, at around 9pm on June 1 as a 41-year-old man was house-sitting for a friend.
The victim heard a knock at the door and opened it, at which point Pratt and Beddoes barged their way in.
He then heard a loud bang and looked down to see he was bleeding and had been shot. The two men fled empty-handed in a vehicle with Hunt.
The victim called for help and was aided by another householder and a neighbour. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for treatment.
Det Insp Simon Harding said: “This type of incident is thankfully rare. However, the victim is still suffering the physical effects of this crime and I hope that this result will help in his recovery, knowing that justice has been done.”
Pratt, Beddoes and Hunt will be sentenced on April 15.
