THE Swedish duo is so in-sync, their voices blur together in effortless harmony, with neither vying for lead vocal, resulting in a divine richness of sound.
The tight vocals laced with pretty percussion and guitars, along with Mike Mogus’s production (best known for his work with folk duo Bright Eyes) work together to create an accomplished, yet charmingly unaffected record.
With most ‘indie-folk’ acts hiding behind euphoric key changes and slick production, (ahem…Noah and the Whale) First Aid Kit strips it back to the genre’s country roots, imploring, “I’ll be your Emmylou and I’ll be your June if, you’ll be my Gram and my Johnny too.”
And a little country goes a long way.
