STUDENTS at St Ivo have entered the school’s record book with the highest grades as 77 per cent achieving A*-C with 18 students getting at least three As.

The St Ives school’s results were up on last year’s 75 per cent A*-C which headteacher Howard Gilbert praised as being outstanding. “I think the majority of students got into their first choices as a result of the grades which is great. We also had a couple who got into Oxbridge,” he added.

Dan Enzer, 18, got two A* and an A to get into Oxford University to read history and economics.

He said: “I knew I had three As as I was told this morning I had my place, so I was expecting that but getting the A*s had made me very happy.

“I’m now going to be thrown into the deep end as it will be a big step up from A level to a studying at Oxford.”

Joining him at an Oxbridge establishment is Alex Forrest, who will head down the Guided Busway to Cambridge to study Economics.

Ben Butler, also 18, achieved three A*s to secure his place on the English literature course at York.

“I think I did alright in the end,” he said. It’s a great relief to get the results and I’ve done better than I thought I had done in the exams.”

Molly Payne, who got two Bs and a C, has deferred her place on a psychology course at Lincoln University until next year.

She told The Hunts Post: “I have really bad motivation so getting to do revision was really hard but I did get used to it so I was really happy with the result. Now I’m going on a gap year and work to see what I want to do.”

Sam Brewer said that he came out of his exams not thinking he had done as well as he needed to get into Exeter University, but he will head down to the West Country next month after achieving an A*, A and B.
