A TEENAGER was robbed and knocked unconscious by a gang yesterday afternoon (Sunday).
The 19-year-old man was approached by a group of five to seven teenagers, between 15 and 17-years-old, as he walked by the basketball court on the recreation ground at the junction of Buttsgrove Way and Coneygear Road at about 4.30pm.
The gang asked him for a cigarette before punching. He was knocked to the ground and kicked while he was down. He lost consciousness and was taken to hospital, but was not seriously hurt.
Detective Sergeant Jim Donington said: “The victim was left shocked and shaken by what happened and I am keen to catch those responsible.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time to consider whether they saw anything significant and call police if they have any information.”
INFORMATION: Anyone with information should contact Det Sgt Donington on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
