Huntingdon’s mayor will be sitting pretty after the mayoral chair was restored to its former glory.
It was bought by Huntingdon Town Council in 1938 with money donated in the will of former Councillor John Edward Sowter.
Repairs included fixing a damaged arm, the removal of old polish, re-polishing of the solid oak frame, repairs to the seat cushion and a re-seal to the leather finish.
The mayor, Councillor Bill Hensley, said: “The chair looks fantastic.”
The work was carried out by Kendals furniture restoration.
