ALMOST 1,500 people attended the Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) Booze on the Ouse Beer & Cider festival at St Ives’ Burgess Hall last weekend.
Around 4,300 pints of real ale were drunk at the festival, on top of gallons of real cider and bottled continental beers.
Beer and cider lovers of all ages attended the festival while judges chose regional winners in the golden ale and best bitter categories. The winner of each category will go on to represent East Anglia at the London Olympia competition in 2014. Paul Moorhouse, a St Ives resident who helped organise the event, said: “Last year was our best ever so we got even more beer in this year and it paid off.”
