A James Bond book anonymously donated to a Huntingdon charity shop was sold for £600 at auction.
A first edition of Dr No by Ian Fleming was handed into Oxfam, in High Street, about six months ago and last Thursday sold at the upper end of its asking price at a Bloomsbury auction in Godalming, Surrey.
The book was the best kept of its type seen this year by Bloosmbury’s modern first edition specialist Max Hasler.
Geoffrey Stalker, newly-appointed manager of the Oxfam store, said: “We are really pleased that so much money has been raised by one item for Oxfam’s charitable work.”
Out of the six Bond books on sale at the auction, Dr No reached the highest price, with two copies of Goldfinger selling for £300 and £420 and a copy of Goldeneye which failed to sell.
