An Irishman whose actions during World War One won him the respect of the troops he supported as a chaplain is due to be the subject of a talk at Offord Cluny Village Hall on Sunday (November 24).
Carole Hope has been invited to speak by the Cambs Western Front Association and her subject will be “Across the Divide – an Irish padre of the Great War. Father Willie Doyle MC, Chaplain to the Forces 1915-17.”
A Jesuit chaplain, Father Doyle put his life on the line on a daily basis to comfort, console and offer philosophical reassurance to those who needed it.
The talk will be given at the village hall from 2.30pm. Non members welcome.
