A pedestrian suffered a serious injury when he was hit by a car on the A428 yesterday (Sunday).

The man, who is in his 40s, was involved in a crash between three cars on the westbound carriageway between Cambourne and Caxton Gibbet.

One fire engine from St Neots and one from Gamlingay were called to the scene at 7.45am.

Magpas Helimedix Dr Monojit Choudhury and paramedic Dan Phillips flew to the incident at 8.10am, where there were two casualties.

The man was treated for a serious head injury and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, where he arrived in a serious, but stable condition.

The A428 between the A1198 and B1040 was closed for several hours.
