A “one-in-a-million” teacher has retired after more than 20 years at a Ramsey school.
Joy Smith decided to hang up her whiteboard pens after 23 years at Ramsey Spinning Infants School. Her last day was on Wednesday (July 23).
Mrs Smith said: “It’s a bit sad. I’ve seen a lot of changes, new headteachers and new staff but I’m leaving on a high.
“My husband’s retiring too so we will do a bit of travelling, gardening, reading all the books I’ve got on my list and just enjoy ourselves.”
A spokesman for the school said: “She has been such an inspirational teacher and has touched the hearts of hundreds of children, parents and many staff throughout the years. She is certainly one in a million.”
