A St Ives runner has completed a marathon challenge in honour of his friend.
Mohammed Ali, 33, of Green Leys, spent half of last year’s weekends running half marathons to raise money for blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan Trust for his friend Gordon Pearce, who died aged 16.
Mr Ali’s first run was on January 12 last year and on December 27, he completed his last run – from the Cromwell statue in Market Hill to the Oliver Cromwell pub in Wellington Street.
“It’s all done and I managed to raise £1,170 for charity which is amazing,” he said. “I banked most of the runs in quite early but I got a bit complacent and left myself with 13 runs to do in 14 weeks, but knowing people sponsored me and talking to Gordon’s mum inspired me to finish.”
