The BacStage amateur dramatics group will perform its version of Dick Whittington and His Cat later this month and tickets are selling fast.

There will be plenty of opportunity for audience participation during the production which is being directed by Sean Baker and Bill Handley. The pantomime will be staged at Bluntisham Village Hall from February 19-21.

Dick Whittington is the story of an orphan boy who goes to London to seek his fortune as he has heard the streets are paved with gold. Alone in the big city, he is conned out of his last penny and meets a cat called Tommy and his adventure begins.

Publicity officer Jackie Mair said: “The Saturday night has already sold out, so if people want to come they really need to get their tickets fast and not risk disappointment by just turning up on the night.

“It should be great fun, and we have, of course, put our own take on what is a traditional panto, but we hope people will enjoy it.”

The venue will be set out with cabaret-style seating and people are allowed to bring their own refreshments.

Performances are at 7.30pm on Thursday and Friday, with a matinee performance on Saturday at 2.30pm. BacStage is also looking for new members. Anyone who is interested in performing or helping out backstage or with costumes should contact the group. INFORMATION: Tickets £7.50 for adults and £5 for under 16s and available from Bluntisham Service Station. For more, call 01487 842482.
