Firefighters were called in after a horse fell into a pit in Earith on Sunday.
Crews from Sutton and Huntingdon were called to Colne Road at about 6pm after reports that a horse had become trapped.
A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters arrived to find a horse trapped after it had fallen into a pit. The crews rescued the horse using harness equipment that was supported by the beams of the building.”
The horse, which escaped without serious injury, was finally pulled clear of the pit by 11.30pm.
