Firefighters from Huntingdon were called to assist with a blaze at two houses in Longstanton.
Crews from Huntingdon, Chatteris, Cottenham and Cambridge attended the fire in Nelson Crescent in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The fire was caused after a lightning strike hit the two properties.
According to Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue both houses were vacant at the time of the incident and no one was injured.
Firefighters entered the houses wearing breathing apparatus but were told to leave the properties after it was feared that the roof was unstable.
Hose reels and jets were used to put of the fire at lower levels of the houses.
A specialist crew then used an aerial platform to tackle the blaze from higher areas in the properties.
