A Huntingdon couple who were married at Eynesbury Church will celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Thursday (September 24).
Stan Pauley, 83, and Freda, 80, of The Paddock, Huntingdon, met in St Neots after visiting the cinema. Freda said: “We just got talking and went from there.”
Freda had moved from Hertfordshire as her father worked at the old Barford Power Station. Stan, born in Godmanchester, did national service at Brampton and played football and bowls at county level. He trained as a carpenter with Brudenell’s before setting up his own business and spent more than 20 years at Huntingdonshire District Council as a housing officer. He is also a life member of the Godmanchester Comrades Club for services to the club.
Freda worked at Elphicks in Huntingdon until her retirement.
The couple have two children, Nigel and Stephen, and three grandchildren, Nicola, Lucy and Harry.
