A community centre in St Neots has been awarded a grant of more than £40,000 to help with new furnishings.
A cheque for £43,412 was handed to the committee which runs Love’s Farm House by the charitable body Waste Recycling Environmental (WREN).
The money, awarded by WREN’s community action fund, will be used to buy furniture, kitchen equipment and a PA, lighting and projection system in time for launch of the centre in October.
Ben Pitt, chair of trustees for Love’s Farm House, believes the grant will make a huge difference to the centre’s success.
He said: “We’re delighted with the building that Huntingdonshire District Council has provided for us, and this funding from WREN allows us to fill it with much-needed equipment.
“Residents can now look forward to some fantastic facilities and a wide range of activities including coffee mornings, exercise classes, baby groups and youth clubs.
“It will also be a brilliant venue for parties that bring the community together. Thanks to the grant from WREN and funding already received from St Neots Town Council and BPHA housing association, we’ll have a community centre that the residents of Love’s Farm can be truly proud of.”
The opening of the centre will be marked with a week of launch celebrations, starting on October 24.
