St John’s Primary School in Huntingdon managed to dodge the showers for its summer fete on June 18, raising some £900 for new playground equipment.
The event saw families enjoy games of ‘Splat the Rat’, a tombola, raffle, outdoor stalls, and performances by dance troupes like the Generation Dance Academy.
Guests’ four-legged friends also joined in on the fun, with a dog show taking place including prizes for the best young handler and most handsome pooch.
Becky Dunwell, chair of Friends of St John’s School, said: “This is our second one, so we went a bit bigger than last year. I’m pleased how much we raised and we do other things like discos – lots of fun events for families to come and enjoy.”
The money will go towards providing new playground equipment at the school, including a climbing pirate ship, with the running total now at some £4,000.
