Work to improve acoustic and echoing problems at a community hall in Somersham have been boosted with a grant worth thousands of pounds.
Huntingdon-based haulier Mick George handed over a cheque for £6,000 to the committee running Somersham Victory Hall to help install acoustic panels, insulation and black-out blinds.
Funding is also being used to purchase projector equipment which, it is hoped, will help with plans to introduce a regular film night at the hall.
Lesley Minter, chairman of trustees said: “We are delighted to receive the grant from the Mick George Community Fund to help us put our improvements in place. Several regular groups, some of whom have hearing impairments, will benefit from the developments. We would like to thank Mick George for this generous contribution to our village hall.”
Jon Stump, finance director at Mick George, added: “Since launching the Mick George Community fund in excess of £1million pound has been invested, and although in comparable terms this is smaller than some of the projects we’ve supported, it certainly means equally as much to those who will benefit from the improvements.’’
