There was cause for celebration at St Ivo School earlier this month, after its geography and science departments received a prestigious teaching award.
The Princes Teaching Institute (PTI) handed out its annual mark of excellence to the school in recognition of the departments’ achievements and recent initiatives like challenges and school trips.
Its third time receiving the award, the geography department has continued to push students beyond the curriculum, sharing ideas and resources with other schools, and launching its online portal.
Meanwhile, the science department has helped broaden staff subject knowledge, as well as providing trips to the National Space Centre, hosting a visiting science group, and presenting at the Eastern Big Bang Fair.
Sam Griffin, head teacher, said, ‘We are delighted to have been awarded the PTI mark for our geography and science departments innovative work, and we are proud to use the mark as evidence of our commitment to inspirational teaching.”
