Starring the highly-acclaimed stage and television actress, Kara Tointon, the play follows the story of Bella Manningham who can’t explain the curious disappearance of some of her possessions.

Neither can she work out the mysterious footsteps overhead, or the ghostly flickering of the living room gaslight in the home she shares with husband, Jack.

Each time Jack is on the town these spooky things keep happening, but is Bella losing her mind? Does the terror exist in her imagination or are there dark secret lurking in her home?

It’s not until a retired detective arrives that Bella unearths a shocking discovery that will shake her respectable Victorian marriage to its core.

Written by Patrick Hamilton, Gaslight first opened in theatres in 1938 and propelled the 34-year-old playwright to stardom.

Even George VI and Queen Elizabeth rushed to the Apollo Theatre in London to see it, before the play crossed the Atlantic to feature under the bright lights of Broadway for four years.

Kara Tointon, most well-known for her appearances in Eastenders, Mr Selfridge, and Strictly Come Dancing, is no stranger to the stage.

Having received high acclaim for her work in the West End performance of Pygmalion, Absent Friends and Relatively Speaking, Kara promises to bring Gaslight to life when it launches at the Cambridge Arts Theatre on February 13.

Also cast is Rupert Young, best known for his portrayal of Sir Leon in the BBC series Merlin, and Keith Allen who starred as the Sheriff of Nottingham in the channel’s Robin Hood drama.

This seat-gripping thriller is not one to be missed, and will run at the theatre until February 18.

Tickets start at £18 and can be booked on 01223 503333 or online at cambridgeartstheatre.com.
