Three Huntingdonshire mums have hung up their walking boots after completing a once-in-a-lifetime challenge for charity.
Joanne Burroughes, Tanya Forster, and Emma D’Avilar took on the 52-kilometre Laugaveger trek, in Iceland, at the beginning of the month.
The friends walked for three days over varied and rough terrain including lava fields and ice rivers, while sleeping in tents.
Joanne said: “It was really hard work but very successful and we smashed our target. We were delighted to finish and were shattered after but to do it was a sense of achievement. We are really grateful to everyone who donated.”
Despite putting their feet up for a well-earned rest, the trio haven’t ruled out another challenge in future. They raised £11,119 which will be split between East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices, Huntingdonshire Society for the Blind, Bloodwise and the Willow Foundation.
