A Huntingdon man charged with causing serious injuries after the bin lorry he was driving was involved in a collision has appeared at court today (Wednesday).
Tomasz Ferlejkow, of Macbeth Close, appeared before Peterborough Magistrates’ Court accused of causing serious injury by dangerous driving following a crash on January 16.
On the day of the incident, police officers were called to a roundabout on the B1043 at Sawtry, close to the junction with Conington Lane, to reports of a collision.
An air ambulance from Magpas also attended, along with two ambulance crews from the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST).
At the time a spokesman for EEAST said three people were treated at the scene.
Ferlejkow, wearing a blue shirt with beige trousers, did not enter a plea and spoke only to confirm his address and date of birth.
Giles Beaumont, prosecuting, said: “The defendant was a driver of a refuse truck and he had two fellow workers in the vehicle at the time.”
He added that the 25-year-old had suffered a slight injury, while one passenger had subsequently had to have a foot, an arm and a hand amputated following the crash. Another passenger sustained eye injuries.
Magistrates adjourned the hearing and granted Ferlejkow unconditional bail.
A plea hearing has been scheduled to take place at Peterborough Crown Court on August 30.
