A wheelie bin fire in Cambourne this morning (Tuesday) was started deliberately, the fire service has said.

Firefighters from Papworth were called to Back Lane at about 12.55am, following reports that a wheelie bin had been set alight.

The crew used a hose reel to extinguish the blaze and returned to their station by about 1.30am.

An investigation determined the cause of the fire was deliberate. Anyone with information should contact police by visiting www.cambs.police.uk to submit an online report or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 55511.

The news follows two arson attacks in as many weeks in Sawtry, and another arson in Yaxley yesterday (Monday), in which a six bins were torched in the Broadway at about 2am.
