A primary school in Alconbury has been handed more than £1,500 in a bid to help enhance children’s learning.

Staff at Alconbury Primary School were delighted to receive a cheque for £1,867 from the Co-op store in Brampton, which has been raising money to help local organisations.

The school, in School Lane, was chosen by the store as one of the local organisations that it supports throughout the year.

Overall, the store has raised more than £12,000 for organisations, schools, clubs and charity’s in the area since its scheme began.

Jane Watts, head teacher at Alconbury, said: “We are absolutely delighted with this money. With school budgets so stretched, any additional funds which we can use to enhance our children’s learning, is very much appreciated. We plan to use it to provide new outdoor shelters for our children which they will be able to enjoy at playtimes and during outdoor learning.”
