Fire service is appealing for information about St Neots’ blaze.
The fire service has confirmed this morning (Saturday) that the fire near Pocket Park in St Neots on Friday evening was arson.
Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service has said the blaze was in the reed beds of the nature reserve.
Firefighters used hose reels to extinguish the fire. All crews had left the scene by 8pm.
A fire service spokesperson said: “The cause of the fire was deliberate, and we’d encourage anyone with any information to contact the police.”
On Friday evening, the fire service confirmed that crews from St Neots, Gamlingay, Huntingdon and Cambridge attended a large fire at Pocket Park Nature Reserve.
“Our control received a call at 6.02pm. The crews arrived to find a well developed fire in the open,” we were told.
