The first meeting of the new year heard Mary Cox talk on Fairtrade. She explained how buying Fairtrade goods helped people in developing countries build a better future and improve their quality of life. She said public pressure had influenced supermarkets to stock Fairtrade items, and although Fairtrade goods can be purchased in many supermarkets, she urged members to still use the shop in the Free Church centre, in St Ives.
The next meeting will held on Tuesday, February 13 at Thorndown School, St Ives, starting 7.30pm.
