The college in California Road, Huntingdon, is being refurbished and modernised after its �50million plans to move to new, purpose-built premises at Hinchingbrooke and St Neots had to be put on hold. HRC had hoped to move from its home at Oxmoor into two new campuses, but the funding was never forthcoming as the Learning and Skills Council’s Building Colleges for the Future programme collapsed.

However, the college revised its plans and said has been making good progress updating its facilities.

And last week Vince Cable, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, announced the HRC was one of 22 colleges from across the country to be awarded additional funding towards its improvement work. The college will receive �1m.
