17 arrested in St Neots and Huntingdon drugs raids

SEVENTEEN people were arrested in St Neots and Huntingdon as part of a police crackdown on class A drug dealing.

SEVENTEEN people were arrested in St Neots and Huntingdon as part of a police crackdown on class A drug dealing.

The operation, codenamed Xander, was held on Wednesday and Thursday (August 3 and 4).

It followed an investigation into drug dealing and associated anti-social behaviour in the Huntingdonshire area.

A total of 16 addresses were searched, including four in London which were searched by the Metropolitan police on behalf of Cambridgeshire police.

Of the people arrested, six were charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs and have appeared at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court today.

Detective Inspector Jon McAdam, who led the operation, said: “Drug dealing has a significant impact on people’s lives, causing intimidation and misery for residents living in affected areas.
